Pilates - this life season’s exercise of choice

We all know the physical benefits of Pilates; building strength and control within the body is what gives us the stamina to keep up with our day to day lives.

But what about the mental and emotional benefits of Pilates? Have you ever walked out of class feeling lighter? Like yeah you just had a solid work out - but you feel energised and refreshed!

Some of the principles of Pilates include concentration, centring, focus and breath. This sends our intention inward, to our bodies, not allowing room for any external thoughts or worries. We have all been in a class where our instructor has layered movements on and up, then reminded us to breathe because somehow we forgot to! There is no mental bandwidth to think of anything else. It’s like a guided meditation.

There’s no room to worry about if you need to pick up anything from the shops for dinner, or making sure your child’s uniform is washed, or whether you need to pick up your grand baby from daycare tomorrow. Instead there is nothing but you, your body, your breath. This gives you your ‘me’ time. Sure it helps with your rehab from injury, or keeps your glutes strong, or allows you to carry all the shopping in at once. But the mental and emotional benefits it brings are often understated.

But they are just as important. We are normally the carer’s, the givers, the house managers, and the mental load of it all can become overwhelming. Having that time to clear the brain and not have to think too hard about anything other than your breath pattern is refreshing...

Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup!

We offer a range of private classes, 1:1 to 4:1 so you can grab some friends a book an appointment with Haydie or Gracia who have a collective 24+ yrs experience in the industry!
